Phishing is a common form of Internet fraud. A phishing email is one that is created by an unauthorized person to look like it is a legitimate email. The intent is to try to get you to provide personal, confidential information so it can be used for identity theft and financial fraud. At Guaranty Bank, we take safeguarding your privacy seriously. We will never request personal or confidential information from you by email.

Recently, one of our customers contacted us due to a fraudulent email they received that mentioned Guaranty Bank in it. This is a variation of a phishing scam in that there is no fake Guaranty Bank web site involved that the perpetrator wants you to visit to provide them with information about you and your accounts. Note the bad grammar and spelling - a major tip that this is a phishing activity. Guaranty Bank did not initiate the email message. If you responded to the email or faxed the requested information, call us IMMEDIATELY at 1-800-288-8822. If you do not bank with Guaranty Bank, but responded to the email or faxed the information requested, notify your financial institution immediately.
