Customers have reported receiving a fraudulent text message that contained a phone number to call. Once you call this number it asks for your credit card number.
This type of fraud is called SMISHING which is a type of phishing that uses SMS text messages. The abbreviation comes from SMs phISHING. If you called this number and provided any information about your accounts, call us IMMEDIATELY at 1-800-288-8822. If you do not bank with Guaranty Bank, but responded to the phone number by giving out your account information, notify your financial institution immediately.
To protect against this kind of attack, it is recommended to be cautious when responding to unsolicited requests for information. If you did not open an account with us or another institution and receive this type of communication, please do not respond. Contact the financial institution directly through their known information such as secure websites or established phone numbers when investigating these types of requests for information.
