What is GuarantySecuritySM? Because, Guaranty Bank is committed to protecting your personal account information, we have added new security called Guaranty Security that further protects your information. This new security will not require you to change or add any additional software or hardware. This new security will help Guaranty bank further identify you online beyond just your user id and password. All verification happens behind the scenes and from time to time you will be presented with a security question to further authenticate you. During the enrollment process, you will be prompted to select a series of "Security Questions" from an available list. Your answers to these questions are personal to you and known only to you. If you are to ever forget your password and wish to change your password online, these questions will be used to validate your identity before allowing you to change your password. Additionally, if you attempt to access your online banking records from an unknown computer, you will be presented with one of these security questions. This is just another layer of security Guaranty Bank offers to make your online experience a safe one. I am answering the questions correctly, but Guaranty Security tells me I answered it incorrectly. Why am I still being questioned? When setting up security questions, pay special attention to punctuation. If you answered a question with punctuation included then you will need to enter this same punctuation. Example, if you answered "blue dog" then answer "bluedog", it will not be correct. Guaranty Security will not allow you to access your online records until it is answered correctly. Why do I have to set up Security Questions? Federal Regulations require Financial Institutions to identify a customer by other means than a username and password. For your online protection, at times, we may use these security questions to help us identify if it is really you accessing your account. How secure is Online Banking? Security with the World Wide Web begins with your browser. Customers are expected to run software to prevent unauthorized access to the computers used for accessing Online Banking. Appropriate software includes, but is not limited to, anti-virus software, anti-spyware and firewalls. Additional security on the Web includes the browser. To protect transactions, we only accept log-ins originating from a browser that supports the highest level of encryption (128-bit Secure Socket Layer (SSL)). Encryption prevents transactions from being read by unauthorized parties over the Internet. It scrambles data in transit between your web browser and your bank's web server. Why does the address change on my browser when I enter the Online Banking area of Guaranty's web site? It changes to the address of the secure server that is running the online banking application. What do "security" or "encryption" error messages mean? You need a secure browser with 128-bit SSL encryption in order to use Online Banking. Why does my session time out? How long before a session times out? If your Online Banking session is inactive for 10 minutes (that is, you have not clicked through the program or entered any transactions), your session will save any transactions you made and automatically terminate. At this point, you will need to log in again. Online Banking is designed this way to provide you with maximum security in case you forget to log out. The log in page does not have the little lock in the lower right corner. Does that mean the log in is not secure? The information you send us during log in is secure. The reason the lock is not shown, or the address line does not show the https, is because the part of the page containing the marketing messages is not secure…only the log in part of the page is secure. Since the whole page is not secure, we cannot show the lock or use the https address even though the information you send us when you log in is encrypted and does go to a secure server.
