American YouthWorks, Inc.

American YouthWorks, Inc., an Austin-based non-profit
organization, received $38,400 through Guaranty Bank to help construct eight new
single-family homes for low- and moderate-income first time homebuyers.
|
|
|
The homes were built by Casa Verde Builders, which
employs at-risk youth who are pursuing an education through American YouthWorks'
model Creative Rapid Learning Center. The young people acquire entry-level
construction skills by building sustainable, affordable, energy-efficient homes
in low-income east Austin neighborhoods, and by performing various community
services.
